Ideal candidate will have experience in the healthcare industry and hold a current PE Certification.

The primary purpose of the Director of Engineering Services position is to provide management and direction of engineering design services (FPDC) in the Facilities Planning Design and Construction department with a portfolio that ranges from $600 Million to over $1 Billion annually. Also, represents FPDC to provide engineering direction on new construction and renovation of existing space at MD Anderson pertaining to Research, Patient Care, Vivarium Facilities, Master Planning and other project types. Acts as departmental liaison with external professional consultants regarding architectural services. Assures compliance with applicable building codes and other regulatory requirements governing the provision of engineering design services. Acts as departmental liaison with external consulting engineers and other professional consultants.

Strategic Direction Provides strategic direction in support of the Long Term Capital Plan in conceptual size utilization studies and plans for proposed new buildings. Assists in the implementation of the Institutional Master Plan. Provides FM budget formulation monitoring and reporting based on staff level, hiring and expenses.

Oversees Resources Develops and implements processes to manage engineering in support of the Operations and Maintenance (O & M) departments in their effort to manage the institution's assets and environment.

Personnel Management Supervises available personnel in the production of the business unit’s products and services. Conducts performance evaluations and handles personnel issues. Completes appropriate reviews and recommends on promotions, salary, and other personnel matters. Establishes goals, determines resource requirements, and allocates available resources to meet those goals. Creates and implements changes as needed to meet departmental, divisional, or institutional goals. Coordinates delivery of services in a matrix model, supporting construction, healthcare and research operations. Energy Management. Oversees the implementation of the energy initiative through engineering task evaluations. Directs key engineers in the support of O & M and participates on the energy core team.

Compliance / Planning Manages the process to qualify and select professional engineering firms under an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) procurement program. Facilitates the business management plan to insure program meets audit requirements.

Salary Range: $108,400 - $135,500 - $162,600

Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Ten years of engineering design experience and three years of supervisory/management experience.

Preferred: Master’s Level Degree. Ten plus years of engineering experience with eight years of healthcare or research design experience. P.E. Certification.
