The primary purpose of the Pharmacy Resource Specialist position is to provide financial counseling and assistance to patients and professional staff maximizing pharmacy reimbursement while maintaining quality patient care.

The ideal candidate will have current or previous experience working in the Division of Pharmacy at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

  1. Manages individual patient pharmacy needs through direct patient contact, communication with patient’s primary payer source, provides patient education and/or attempts to find alternate payer source.

  2. Manage and coordinate financial issues for pharmacy services

  3. Completes education classes as required by management and educates other departments on patient assistance programs.

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $42,400 - $53,000 - $63,600

EDUCATION:

Required: Bachelor's in Business Administration or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Three years of pharmacy reimbursement, case management, managed care or insurance industry experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

Preferred: Must have current or previous experience working in the Division of Pharmacy at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
