MD Anderson Cancer Center Building Operations Tech Analyst - Facilities Management Bastrop in Bastrop, Texas

This is a full-time benefits eligible position is located at the Michale E. Keeling Center for Comparative Medicine and Research and is part of the Facilities Management, Research and Administration Facilities Department in Bastrop, Texas.

SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the BAS Analyst position is to define the building automation system scope and architecture based upon user needs to include the programming and development of moderately complex systems and data management as it relates to strategic building automation, energy management and infrastructure initiatives.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Programming, Trending, Customer Meetings, and On Call

Responsible for formulating and defining system scope and objectives based upon customer needs. Participates in the analysis of system and user requirements as it relates to information technology, database modifications trending and basic programming changes. The employee may be expected to be part of an on-call group and when assigned this responsibility will be compensated for that time. When on-call the employee must be available and be able to respond in accordance to policy. Periods of alert when Emergency Conditions may be expected are not considered on-call. Must be able to prepare information for customer meetings, monthly reports and presentations.

CMMS, BAS Upgrades, DB and Application Support, AFCO Content Manager

Assists in the implementation of system upgrades, following established upgrade criteria and participates in the maintenance of data integrity, data conversion efforts and quality control analysis of databases and applications. Must understand basic IT architectural / infrastructural concepts. Develops expertise in building automation applications used by facilities. Increases knowledge regarding departmental Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), workflow processes and the overall Information Technology environment in the department. Modifies point definitions and start/stop schedules for various control sequences. Prioritizes and schedules assignments to ensure staff and users have adequate opportunity to discuss priorities and resources. Participate as PAC member. Develop and maintain sites and pages within area of responsibility (ex. business unit, community, and team). Enforce internal processes (file storage, archive, announcements, etc). Conduct meetings with members in area of responsibility. Suggest and assist with site and page content changes to suit business need. Triage issues from contributors to site manager (maintain issues list). Evaluate contributor training need. Provide direction and access to training. Champion use of FM Portal.

Energy Conservation, Scheduling and Business Development

Develops and enforces system standards to comply with governmental regulations and institutional policies and procedures concerning energy management. Program energy management schedules as requested by our clients to assure patient comfort as well as maintaining cost savings. Develop business processes that are consistent with professional and regulatory standards that leverage information technology to improve building automation efficiency and effectiveness. Provides technical support by defining functional requirements using workflow analysis, regulatory and standards review, standards of professional practice, and other relevant sources.

Project Support, Reviews and Commissioning

Conducts BAS project and submittal reviews and forwards comments to supervisor for approval. Analyzes and revises existing system discrepancies and documentation as necessary. Provides support to BAS Analyst II personnel during testing/commissioning of infrastructure enhancements from mid-level to major system upgrades. Provides end users with documentation which ensures their review and approval.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: Associate's degree in Electronics, Mechanical Systems, Computer Technology, Air Conditioning or other related technical field.

Preferred Education: Bachelor's Level Degree.

Certification: None.

Preferred Certification: Comp TIA, A+, MCSE, CEM, PMP.

Experience: Two years experience in building operations technologies and programming. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

Preferred Experience: System design and construction experience with a focus in healthcare, academic, and/or research facilities. Experience with Johnson Controls Building Automation System, Phoenix Controls, building automation system integration, SOAP, BACnet, OPC, Modbus and related industry protocols.
