This is a full-time benefits eligible position is located at the Michale E. Keeling Center for Comparative Medicine and Research and is part of the Facilities Management, Research and Administration Facilities Department in Bastrop, Texas.

SUMMARY

Responsible for a variety of cleaning functions by performing or operating machines to perform any or all of these duties on the Bastrop Campus cleaning, scrubbing, buffing, stripping, waxing and burnishing hard floors. Also vacuums, bonnets and extracts carpeted floors and performs other required similar duties as assigned. Inspects areas visually to determine cleaning or other care required and needed supplies. Responds to service and/or supply requests. Maintains equipment and/or supply storeroom in an orderly manner.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Performs floor care duties

Cleaning, scrubbing, buffing, stripping, waxing & burnishing floors.

Visually inspects areas. If required, Maintains equipment and/or supply storeroom.

Determine cleaning or other care required and any needed supplies, then follows up by performing the necessary cleaning and/or procedures, gathering and dispensing any needed supplies, or notifying the correct person to do so if appropriate. Maintains equipment and/or supply storeroom in an orderly manner that facilitates easy access to supplies and equipment and quick availability assessment of stocked supplies. Receives and verifies daily supply orders.

Laundry Service

Performs laundry service for campus animal care staff, including washing, drying and folding.

General Housekeeping

Performs a variety of cleaning tasks. Inspects area of assignment to determine needs and satisfactory completion of tasks. Understands information on chemical labels and dispenses the proper amount/dilution of water for cleaning. Records areas cleaned on daily report and turns in to Supervisor. Performs basic and routine cleaning needs to assigned areas or as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: None.

Preferred Education: HS Graduate or Equivalent.

Certification: None.

Preferred Certification: None

Experience: Six months floor technician experience.

Preferred Experience: One year floor technician experience, knowledge of basic housekeeping duties.
