The primary purpose of the Public Safety Officer position is to screen students, patients, staff, faculty and visitors entering the facilities of the University for proper identification. Through observation and patrol, Public Safety Officers safeguard institutional property, identify security issues and enforce institutional rules and regulations. In emergencies, the PSO facilitates the orderly evacuation of the buildings and structures.

ThisPublic Safety Officer will be based at the MD Anderson locations inBastrop, Texas, and Smithville, Texas. These locations are approximately35 miles east of Austin and 130 miles west of Houston.
The ideal candidate must be able to work a varied shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Minimum: $24,700 Midpoint: $30,900 Maximum: $37,100
Patrolsuniversity buildings and property on foot to prevent theft, vandalism or fire.
Calls for Service
Respondsto calls for service and provides requested services in a timely manner and inaccordance with policies and procedures.
Activelyscreens all persons entering university facilities; challenges persons withoutappropriate identification and all suspicious persons.
Other Duties as Assigned
Otherduties to include, but are not limited to, emergency recall and/or possible requirementto remain onsite or work extended hours during man-made or natural disastersand unusual occurrences on campus.Local or long distance travel may be required for training or otherbusiness purposes.
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Required: One year of relevant work experience.
