Clinical Nurse Position in our Pediatric Unit in our MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital , is looking for nurses that are flexible, enthusiastic about family and patient-centered care and passionate about pediatrics care. Our 35 bed unit will allow you to care for all pediatrics patients in the following services lines: Pedi oncology, pediatrics surgical, pediatrics stem cell transplant and cellular therapy and young adult stem cell transplant and cellular therapy.

Ideal candidate must have graduated from an accredited school of professional nursing, RN license, Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and at least one year of recent Pediatrics or Hematology RN experience.

Shift: 7 pm - 7 am and 26 out of 52 weekends per year.

Salary Range: Minimum $65,000 - Mid-point $87,500 - Maximum $110,000


Function: Manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. Scope: Impacts quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.


Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area. Assesses patient's needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team. Collaborates with physicians, other services, patient and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes. Improves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies. Participates in data collection for current studies. Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies. Documents care according to established standards. Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from computer systems. Assures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services. Acts as a patient and family advocate in order to uphold patient rights. Trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.

Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.

Preferred: Bachelors of Science in Nursing.


Required: 12 months recent RN experience in a Pediatrics or Hematology Setting.


Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN) and Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Preferred: Certification in oncology or specialty practice area.


Patient care environment.

All clinical nurses with less than one year registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program. Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification if working in the following department: Nrsg Post Anesthesia Care Unit (600160).
