MD Anderson Cancer Center Accountant I - PRS Administrative Services in Houston, Texas

The primary purpose of the Accountant I position is to apply professional accounting principles and techniques in meeting assigned responsibilities and in preparing data for accounting records, financial reports, special reports, and analyses of operations.


Concur and PeopleSoft Reimbursement Review and approve PRS Concur employee reimbursements. Independently audits expense reports to ensure detail receipts reconcile to the request. Verify appropriate documentation are included and verify chart field string and account coding are accurate. Ensure request is in compliance with PRS and Institutional guidelines. Initiate contact with departmental representatives to resolve discrepancies. Responsible for the resolution of issues and problems, ensuring that deadlines are met. Uses good judgement in keeping management informed of pertinent information. Customer service point person for Concur processing. Recommends process improvements. Responsible for annual review and updating of the PRS Faculty Development, Chair and Division guidelines. Prepare retirement requests. Reconciles retirement schedule to ensure funds are available and reimbursements are in compliance with PRS and Institutional guidelines.

Harris County Medical Society Enrollment , Refund Reconciliation and Cash Clearing Reconciliation Manages the faculty memberships for Harris County Medical Society. Responsible for the enrollment and maintenance of the Harris County Medical Society membership dues database and prepares check requests for payment. Works independently to prepare schedules for reporting to HCMS and the Department of Health Policy. Complete monthly reconciliation of EPIC refund and Cash Clearing balance sheet account. Analyzes data and prepares monthly work papers for meetings with PBS to discuss variances. Works independently with PBS staff to prepare transfers required between PB and HB. Identify processing issues and recommend process improvements.

Journal Entry Preparation Creates various journal entries to include cash, refunds and transfers. Compiles various ad-hoc reports, analysis, and projects as assigned..

Required : Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related.

Preferred: Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field.


Required: One year of experience required with degree in Business Administration or related field. With a degree in Accounting, no experience is required. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

Preferred: Experience with Concur, PeopleSoft and database maintenance.
