The department of Melanoma Medical Oncology has a mission to develop better treatments for patients with melanoma by the alignment of laboratory and clinical approaches, provide outstanding care to patients with melanoma and train the next generation of clinical scientists capable of translating novel concepts from the laboratory to the clinic.

The Accountant II applies professional accounting principles and techniques in meeting assigned responsibilities and in preparing data for accounting records, financial reports, special reports, analyses of operations.

The ideal candidate will have experience with clinical trial financial and post award management, contracts, budget, invoicing payment of trials. Familiarity with EPIC is highly preferred.

The salary range is: min-$52,000, mid-65,000 and max-$78,000.


•Assist with protocol cost analysis revision, finalization, and submission.

•Assist in completion of forms (as specified) for protocol, contract, and budget approval and activation.

•Process forms and documentation for patient reimbursement related to participation on clinical trials.

•Reviews and tracks protocols and protocol amendments for budget items

•Assist with any departmental needs as required, to include special financial and research reports

•Perform a monthly review and reconciliation of the patient charges in the Epic Work queue (WQ). Serves as a liaison between CRF and the clinical research team.

•Perform patient care reconciliation between Epic charges and the general ledger postings.

•Perform review of the billing setup and billing groupers in Epic to ensure that appropriate source of funds are used. Request correction if needed.

•Follow up on all discrepancies/adjustments to ensure corrections are posted to the appropriate account.

•Interacts with all levels of personnel within the department, other institutional departments, as well as outside companies to resolve problems/errors or questions regarding patient care reconciliation items.

•Data collection of patient enrollment, or completed visits in accordance with the payment milestones indicated in clinical trial agreements, and submit invoice request in GCA SharePoint.

•Develop database or create tracking spreadsheets for milestone payment of each protocol.

•Review of patient travel receipts for allow ability as indicated in the contract and submit invoice request in GCA SharePoint...

•Review the project end dates of each protocol and request no cost extensions through GCA SharePoint site when necessary.

•Familiarization of institutional contract financial systems, and chartfield strings (CFS) assigned to each project.

•Monthly review of the Lab Tracker to check for CTRC PK and EKG invoices, make payments after each invoices were reviewed by Data Coordinators for accuracy of time points.

•Serve as liaison between Interventional Radiology and Data Imaging to verify and confirm services and approve for IDT payment transfer.

•Maintains and updates a tracking tool for clinical research contract payment milestones including initial invoice through payments and distributions of funds

•Requests for invoices and follows up on payments for clinical research studies

•Maintains financial files for all sponsored research studies

•Performs monthly research account reconciliation through EPIC and confirms the accuracy of GL postings

•Other duties as assigned


Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field.


Required: Two years of accountant experience required with a Bachelor's in Business Administration or related field. One year of accountant experience required with a Bachelor's in Accounting. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

Preferred: Experience with clinical trial financial and post award management, contracts, budget, invoicing payment of trials. Familiarity with EPIC is highly preferred.
