The Administrative Assistant performs complex administrative work, often of a confidential nature, in the Department of Biostatistics, requiring the use of judgment to interpret general directions, initiative, and the ability to make decisions relative to efficient office operations while maintaining a thorough knowledge of institutional regulations, policies and procedures.

The salary range is min $ 36,000 mid $ 45,000 max $ 54,000.

Key Functions

1. Provides administrative support to assigned faculty and staff including, but not limited to, maintaining and updating Curriculum Vitae, Other Support, biographical sketches, processing travel and various reimbursements, keeping calendars, typing correspondence, assisting faculty with manuscripts, etc.

  1. Assists faculty with grant applications at the direction of the Grant Program Coordinator.

  2. Serves as secondary Kronos timekeeper for the department. May enter all time in Kronos and track extramural leave of faculty as well as run reports as requested by Department Administrator.

  3. May coordinate the Biostatistics Visiting Guest Lecturer program - coordinates all aspects of the invited guest's visit including communicating with the guest, making travel arrangements, completing necessary forms, conference rooms and audio/visual set up, distributing announcements, coordinating business meal arrangements, and processing reimbursements.

  4. Provides support to the Department Administrator and Operations Manager, as needed. Completes special projects, as assigned.

  5. Acts as back-up to the front desk receptionist, as needed.

  6. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Specialized training in secretarial skills (such as word processing and business).

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Four years secretarial experience including advanced secretarial duties.

OTHER:

Required: Must pass pre-employment skills a test as required and administered by Human Resources.
