Anesthesia & Critical Care Billing Specialist opportunity in the Anesthesia, Critical Care & Pain Clinical Support Department. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospital Administration or related field and three years of experience in business office functions, billing and coding, cost accounting and data management to include two years in an anesthesia, critical care and pain health care environment.

Salary Range: min - $44,000 mid - $55,000 max - $66,000

KEY FUNCTIONS

Coverage

Provides daily charge-capture support (professional and technical) for Cancer Pain Medicine, Acute Pain Medicine, Anesthesia Assessment Center, Critical Care and Respiratory Care.

Provide back-up to multiple areas of charge-capture which include Critical Care, Acute Pain, Pacemakers and Anesthesia Assessment.

Training

Manages staff training within the Division, to include other Clinical Billing Specialist, Fellows, Physicians, and Midlevel Providers. Educate providers as annual Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) changes are implemented and as quarterly Correct Coding Initiative (CCI)/Local Coverage Determination (LCD) edits are announced.

Keep Division Providers and Financial Team advised of coding and billing changes/regulations that may impact revenue and coding decisions. Quarterly and Annual updates related to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) changes. State and national policy changes by managed care providers.

Billing

Research documentation, coding and billing needs - including but not limited to: daily charge-capture, audit inquiries, billing enhancement opportunities, and Compliance Regulations. Manages and responds to inquiries for assistance in charge-capture. Missing and late charges reports from PBS and Outpatient Activity Reports. Provides Research Office and Clinical Revenue and Reimbursement with cost analysis assistance related to professional and technical services. Responds to inquiries from Patient Billing Services regarding patient charges. Coordinates corrections and "No Charge" approvals. Responds to compliance issues with details, analysis and recommendations related to documentation, coding and process changes.

Participates in the planning and development of tools used throughout the Division to reconcile, audit, analysis and report revenue cycle data. Audits to ensure that current coding guidelines and codes are applied to billed professional services. Audits that there are matching professional and technical invoiced charges (where appropriate). Audits that provided services are invoiced. Maintain records of all audits and submissions. Coordinates and manages records storage requirements. Med Assets Audit tool - Charge capture audits. Coordinates and maintains all resources to include but not limited to the Divisions Billing and Charge Capture Manual. Manages Downtime material for all areas in the Division.

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospital Administration or related field.

EXPERIENCE

Required: Three years of experience in business office functions, billing and coding, cost accounting and data management to include two years in an anesthesia, critical care and pain health care environment. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

Required: Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from an accredited organization.
