MD Anderson Cancer Center Arabic Medical Interpreter/Translator in Houston, Texas

The Language Assistance Department is an essential resource to facilitate communications between Limited English Proficiency (LEP) patients and health care providers at MDACC.

Our team is composed by professional interpreters specialized in medical interpretation in a variety of languages. All MDACC Medical Interpreters/Translators have been screened and qualified by the Language Assistance department, and they are evaluated for proficiency and competency on a regular basis. The most requested languages are Spanish, Arabic, Vietnamese and Mandarin.

Our team is involved in direct patient care whenever there is a language barrier between Limited English Proficiency (LEP) patients and staff. They interpret from one language to another, playing a crucial role in staff-patient communications. Interpreters will not answer patients' medical questions, but rather guide patients to the proper resources. All medical questions are to be answered by the appropriate health care provider, and other patient concerns are to be handled by the staff specialized in the issue of concern.

Language Assistance provides the following interpretation services in over 220 languages at no cost to your department or the patient:

Salary range: min-$38,800 mid-$49,500 max-$60,200
