MD Anderson Cancer Center Business Systems Analyst (CTMS) in Houston, Texas

The primary role of this Business Systems Analyst (BSA) position is to perform requirement and workflow analysis and documentation in the area of clinical research/trial management. The goal is to facilitate the implementation of the Advarra OnCore Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) ("the system") and its integration with select clinical and research applications of the institution. This position will interact with customers and the project team frequently during implementation, as well as providing user support after the rollout of OnCore.

Scope of Work

Works with users and project management to formulate and accomplish designated scope of work per good understanding and practices of business requirement analysis, clinical research workflow analysis and research applications. Provides input on project schedule, deliverables and risk assessment to project management.

Business Analysis

Captures, analyzes and prioritizes business requirements and change requests in the areas of clinical trial management, integration analysis of OnCore with Epic and select MD Anderson research applications, and business process optimization leveraging the system


Partners with SME's and technical resources to translate business requirements to technical specifications, configurations, data mapping/dictionary for data migration from legacy systems to the system. Provides formal documentations, workflow diagrams and UI mockups/wireframes conforming to MD Anderson standards.

User Acceptance

Provides test scripts, enables users and the project team to conduct integration and acceptance testing, and facilitates change enablement activities for user acceptance of the system

User Training

Provides periodic demos and brings user awareness of the system during its implementation. Provides training guides, user manuals and periodic user training.

Production Support

Provides production support after the rollout of the system. Gathers user feedback and consults with project management for a roadmap to enhance the system as it will continue to evolve to serve our user needs.

Other duties as assigned

Education Required:

Bachelor's degree.

Experience Required:

Two years' experience in domain, project management, Epic software or workflow analysis. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

Preferred Experience:

Experience in business process and workflow analysis for web or cloud-based application implementation

Experience in the clinical research/trial or the healthcare industry. Experience with a CTMS system such as OnCore is strongly preferred.

Experience with the Agile methodology and working with vendors

Proficiency in productivity tools PowerPoint, Visio, Word, etc.

Strong interpersonal, verbal and writing skills

Excellent presentation skills for demos and user training

Demonstrable ability to take initiatives, establish/enhance business analysis procedures and improve operational efficiency

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment
