Support of Reporting Initiatives:

Coordinate with internal/external workgroups the functions of identification, collection, analysis of data within identified timelines.

Collect data according to specifications for various benchmarking or reporting projects.

Facilitate and assist with development and maintenance of clinical metrics.

Actively participate in the development and design of chart abstraction tools and methodologies.

Maintain organized documentation of data elements and findings related to the 1115 Medicaid Waiver program.

Utilize internal and external data sources for analysis supplementing with manual abstraction where necessary to facilitate metric reporting.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration:

Independently coordinate departmental efforts with internal/external customer and/or workgroups to obtain and establish electronic data reports in a specified format for upload for reporting.

Collaborate and serve as a resource for internal/external customers regarding clinical metrics and data abstraction.

Interact with departments that manage primary clinical data sources to facilitate and maintain electronic abstraction capabilities.

Quality Management:

Seek to leverage electronic methodologies and technology using the best practices inside and outside the institution to enhance data capturing and mining

Maintain high standards for information quality and data analysis to ensure that information is accurate, timely, and meets or exceeds the needs of the customer.

Actively engage in reporting activities and identify opportunities to improve the quality of care by working with physicians, nursing, HIM, and administration to develop strategies to improve performance.

Explore and implement viable opportunities to expand the existing body of knowledge being used at MDACC and other affiliated facilities regarding clinical measurement.

Network with national, regional and local venues and/or colleagues to foster knowledge regarding clinical metrics.

Actively participate in formal and informal discussions regarding the content and structure of the data sources.



Bachelor's degree of Science in Nursing.



Three years of clinical nursing to include one year of clinical data abstraction and analysis.



Current State of Texas professional nursing license (RN).
