The Computation Scientist will analyze and develop algorithms and software for scientific problems. Apply and develop software tools to perform data analysis in cancer research. Impact scientific research projects in the Department of Epigenetics and Molecular Carcinogenesis.
Compile, analyze and report statistical data for various projects including, but not limited to manual and computer-aided data abstraction and evaluation, computerized imaging and bioinformatics.
Assess relevant literature as well as existing data, evaluates the quality of data used in reports and assists with preparation and distribution of data for committee and scientific meetings.
With limited direction, develop and maintain software tools and infrastructure for resolving specific problems.
Perform gene expression data analysis/transcriptomics and genomic data analysis.
Perform analysis of cancer genome datasets such as TCGA, ICGC and dep map with an emphasis on translational research.
Responsible for the integration of large-scale bulk sequencing and single-cell sequencing multi-omic datasets.
Contribute to the development of procedures and makes recommendations on new procedures.
Explore and learn new technologies relevant to lab research projects.
Advise and assist users and other personnel in analyzing, defining and resolving computer problems.
Collaborate with PIs and other research, computational, scientific or support staff to accomplish project focus or results.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics or related field.
Preferred: Master's degree or PhD with a concentration in Science, Engineering or related field.
Required: Five years experience in scientific software development/analysis. With preferred degree three years experience required.
Preferred: Experience in cancer genome datasets such as TCGA, ICGC and dep map with interest in translational research is preferred. Familiarity with gene expression data analysis/transcriptomics and genomic data analysis.
