MD Anderson Cancer Center Computational Scientist - Radiation Physics in Houston, Texas

The primary purpose of the Computational Scientist position is to be responsible for complex analysis in a variety of systems and programming areas operating concurrently, development of algorithms and software for proton dose computations and treatment planning, and participation in treatment planning studies using such system. The computational scientist will provide technical support for clinical research and developmental projects by developing new algorithms, communicating with the industry partners as necessary to improve computational infrastructure, and implementing new software for dose computations, treatment planning, measurements and image processing for activities relating to proton therapy.


Software development Develop complex algorithyms in proton therapy

Project development Analysis and assistance of others in the development of formalisms, algorithms and software for complex applications related to dose computations, Mote Carlo techniques, treatment planning, image processing, measurements and data analyses in radiation physics. Acts in a projected development and definition capacity.

Infrastructure tool development Develops and maintains software tools and infrastructure for resolving specifric problems.

Other duties as assigned


Required : Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics or related field.

Preferred: Master's degree or PhD with a concentration in Science, Engineering or related field.


Required : Five years experience in scientific software development/analysis. With preferred degree three years experience required.
