The mission of the Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Department is to utilize transplantation therapies to eliminate cancer and provide personalized patient care. The program has a strong commitment to clinical and basic science research and to advancing the field of stem cell transplants. We are one of the largest centers in the world for stem cell transplants, performing more than 865 procedures each year, more than any other center in the nation.

The ideal candidate will have two years experience in nursing or one year related nursing experience in utilization review/insurance/case management/medical clearance.

Essential Job Functions-

Utilizes medical acceptance criteria to screen and schedule appointments for new patients. Provides financial counseling options to patients including cost estimates, payment plans, discounts and supplemental financial assistance. Collects financial data during intake process to ensure appropriate financial screening of new patients and verifies data during new patient registration. Obtains insurance information, verifies benefits and secures authorizations. Performs clinical review of new patient referrals to determine medical acceptance and communicates with patients and appropriate clinical staff. Uses clinical knowledge to assist with obtaining medical overrides, developing cost estimates, gaining authorization for services and coordinating predetermination processes.

Education

Required: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN).

Experience

Required: Two years experience in nursing or one year related nursing experience in utilization review/insurance/case management/medical clearance.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN).

Licensure/Certification

Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).
