MD Anderson Cancer Center Dental Assistant in Houston, Texas

The Dental Assistant in the Head & Neck Center at MD Anderson Cancer Center assists during oral and maxillofacial surgeries, biopsies, restorative procedures, and four-handed dentistry by handling instruments and supplies to the dentist. They will assist in the changing of intra-oral dressings, set-up sterile trays for procedures, sterilize and provide routine care to clinical instruments, and perform Panorex and PA x-rays as directed. This person will also help monitor the dentist's clinic schedule and make changes as needed to ensure efficient patient flow and enter technical charges into the system as appropriate.

We treat head and neck cancers with a diverse team of oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, neuro-radiologists, dental oncologists and plastic surgeons with special training in head and neck cancers. Together, they design customized treatment plans that may include proton therapy, Gamma Knife radiosurgery, targeted therapies and advanced reconstructive surgery methods.

Salary Range: $33,200 - $41,500 - $49,800


Required: High school diploma or equivalent.


Required: One year of experience as a dental assistant.

Preferred: Required experience gained as a certified Dental Assistant would be a plus.


Required: All of the following: Registered Dental Assistant with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Preferred: Certification by the Dental Assistant National Board would be a plus.
