Salary Range: Minimum $110,600 - Midpoint $139,500 - Maximum $167,400

Summary

The Director of Operations, Financial Clearance Center is responsible for delivering consistent and effective leadership on various business processes and technologies related to the institution's financial clearance functions. This includes establishing policies, standards and financial clearance metrics used to track and monitor the efficiency, quality and adherence of adopted policies and procedures. The Director will oversee the development and maintenance of effective working relationships across the organization, at varying position levels, to facilitate with optimizing the patient's financial clearance experience. The Director will maintain knowledge of external regulatory requirements impacting FCC activities and oversee efforts required to ensure compliance. The Director will support the Executive Director with setting the strategic direction for the FCC to ensure optimal performance of the financial clearance processes.

Key Functions

  • Effectively leads and coordinates initiatives and operations associated with the financial clearance activities and directs the implementation of standards and systems to enhance quality, consistency, efficiency, and timeliness of such processes

  • Establish and set expectations and develops a system of accountability that aligns with the Financial Clearance strategic goals and operational initiatives

  • Facilitates timely communication and works collaboratively with other departments, including but not limited to Patient Access, Case Management, Patient Business Services, and IT to ensure the processes and systems are standardized and optimized for efficient and effective flow of financial clearance functions

  • Oversee development of Financial Clearance Center reporting metrics and directs efforts to monitor, assess and ensure the ongoing feasibility of such metrics to ensure continued alignment of policies and process against industry best practices

  • Direct efforts to institute summary level dashboards that serve to aggregate key performance indicators within the Financial Clearance Center to drive informed decisions regarding current state process, staff training/development needs, process improvement opportunities

  • Accountable for successfully leading staff through change and adoption of new technology and processes related to ICD-10, EPIC and other institution wide initiatives to ensure compliance and optimization of impacted financial clearance related activities

  • 7Manage and oversee the development of department policies and procedures, educational and training curriculum for FCC staff members, and other identified tools and resources that support activities in the FCC

  • Oversee the management of vendor sourcing, applicable licensure requirements, audit request and adherence to any institutional, UT System and/or other regulatory requirements

  • Oversee and work to timely facilitate the resolution of patient advocacy issues including but not limited to issues related to patient safety, dissatisfaction, access and compliance

  • Supports the Executive Director with setting the strategy and serves as a key promoter of leading practice financial clearance processes that will protect the institution's revenue and achieve optimal patient experience

  • Manages human resources activities for direct reports in regards to recruiting, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations

  • Performs all other duties as assigned

    EDUCATION

    Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration related field.

    EXPERIENCE

    Required: Ten years of experience in revenue cycle management functions such as: insurance and benefits verifications, preauthorization of care, and financial counseling to include eight years of management experience.
