MD Anderson Cancer Center EHR Beaker - Clinical Pathology & Blood Bank Systems Analyst in Houston, Texas
The EHR Systems Analyst is a primary support contact and is responsible for developing and maintaining in-depth knowledge of the Epic system and serves as a bridge between end users and the EHR Team. He/she conducts regular day-to-day communication with the EHR Team, reviews the software, analyzes business operations, and works with Epic and MD Anderson Clinical/Business Representatives/Subject Matter Experts to tailor the system to fit MD Anderson's needs or to provide technical expertise in the design, implementation, and support of the EHR. On an as needed basis, he/she performs in-depth analyses of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with the use of Epic software. He/she is also responsible for developing and documenting the internal procedures that will be used in conjunction with Epic applications.
*In order to be adequately prepared and trained to build, test and optimize the Epic system, MDA requires that Epic certification be obtained within 180 days of hire*
Standards & Testing:
Adhere to standard operating procedures and maintain build and testing standards (SME Signoff or governance sign off)
Adhere to the best practices set by IS division as well as MDA policies, procedures, and standards
Prepare documentation as needed for the implementation of enhancements or new technology
Follow documented change control processes
Perform quality control and testing to ensure that solutions are technically sound
Build, Content Management and System Configuration:
Prioritize and implement requested changes or projects for the system in a timely manner while proactively communicating with end users
Maintain/troubleshoot build within EHR
Modify Epic content as prescribed by the project team
Communicate/participate in the implementation/optimization efforts receive approval from the governing body
Focus on patient safety when analyzing system configuration and enhancements
Perform medium risk/complex system maintenance as needed
Perform routine revisions to meet build metrics
Provide functional expertise with clinical workflow understanding to optimize the design and development of systems
Provide technical expertise or the design and development of systems
Provide support and problem resolution to customers
Respond to requests in a timely manner while proactively communicating expectations for procedures, service arrival (ETA), or project deliverables to stakeholders
Participate in after-hours application support and downtime procedures
Obtain technical and workflow knowledge of assigned applications to better troubleshoot and resolve incidents
Facilitate issue resolution with Epic technical support
Liaison, Networking Skills and Business knowledge:
Collect information regarding potential system enhancement and workflow resolution to customers
Establish and maintain liaison relationships with customers and OneIS to provide effective technical solutions and customer service
Collaborate with senior/principal analysts to obtain technical and workflow knowledge of business operations
Attends meetings, participates in workgroups, and/or serves on committees as needed

Other duties as assigned
Two years of clinical, relevant healthcare information technology, or relevant business experience. May substitute required education with years of related experience on a one to one basis.
Must obtain Epic certification issued by Epic within 180 days of date of entry into job.
Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
