MD Anderson Cancer Center Executive Director, Planned Giving in Houston, Texas
The Development Division of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC) is seeking an innovative and experienced planned giving professional to serve the institution as the Executive Director, Planned Giving. Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Individual Giving, the Executive Director provides strategic and managerial leadership to advance all aspects of a robust and growing Planned Giving program for MDACC.
Overseeing all staff and related programs in Planned Giving, this team and program leader works in close collaboration with the Associate Vice President, Individual Giving and team leads across the Development Division and the institution. This collaborative and consultative professional will lead and manage a strategic, comprehensive and proactive planned giving program that reflects industry best practices and maximizes charitable contributions through appropriate, donor-aligned planned giving vehicles.
Through the strategic alignment and execution of Planned Giving work plans, and in consultation with leaders and peers, the Executive Director will develop and deliver on aspirational annual and campaign fundraising goals with an emphasis on significantly contributing to the expansion and maturation of MD Anderson's Planned Giving program.
Leading by example, the Executive Director will further develop the planned giving consultancy model for all individual fundraisers while managing an individual portfolio of Planned Giving donors. This leader will identify opportunities for fundraising peer collaboration in prospect strategy development for highly complex donor conversations to inspire a culture of teamwork and continued learning.
10 years of experience in planned giving, estate planning, or trusts and estate, with a strong preference for individuals who have built the infrastructure of a planned giving program in higher education, academic healthcare institution or other multi-divisional nonprofit environment
A demonstrated ability to conceptualize and execute planned giving strategies with a track record of increasing contributions through planned giving vehicles
Strong communicator and educator, willing to develop training programs to enhance the division's overall capability to grown planned gifts
Must be able to travel frequently, overnight and inclusive of weekends
