The Clinical Nurse on the Nursing Isolation unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
Ideal candidate will have an RN license and at least twelve months of recent RN experience in medical/surgical or an acute care setting.
Shift will be 7pm - 7am and 26 out of 52 weekend shifts per year.
The Nursing Isolation Unit cares for a mix of medical, surgical, hematological and ICU patients that have a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis. The patient population is mostly adults ages 18 and older. Our nurses have the opportunity to learn a variety of disease processes and manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. Our safety protocols focus on multiple lines of defense to protect our patients and employees, including testing, vaccination, personal protective equipment (PPE) and managing the number of people on our campuses. The single point of entry allows for better controls and awareness for all staff. In addition, the isolation unit is supported by a separate air handling system and all rooms are designated as negative pressure rooms, which makes the unit ideal to serve suspected and confirmed cases. The team continues to use video and iPad communication when appropriate to minimize entering patient rooms.
Hourly breakdown of salary range:
Minimum $31.73 - Midpoint $43.27 - Maximum $54.81

Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing would be a plus.
Required: All clinical nurses with less than one year registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program. This position is not eligible for the residency program.
Preferred: Must have at least one year of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting.
Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).
Preferred: Certification in oncology or other nursing specialty. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
