MD Anderson Cancer Center Financial Analyst -Financial Planning & Analysis in Houston, Texas

Summary

This position will support the financial reporting and financial project evaluations for MD Anderson's Cancer Network and Finance, Analytics, and Treasury department. This will include the maintenance and enhancement of the monthly Cancer Network financial report, monthly reconciliations, annual budget for Cancer Network and the development of financial and operational ratio forecasting models for Cancer Network and MD Anderson projects. The position will also support the institution's business planning process related to Cancer Network expansion and MD Anderson expansion programs and initiatives that require due diligence. Other duties may be temporarily assigned, based on the immediate needs of the finance organization.

Key Functions

  1. Financial Modeling Cancer Network Administrative
  • Assists with complex financial analysis and the development of sophisticated financial models used to evaluate projects.

  • Researches, compiles, and analyzes data relative to specific engagements.

  • Develops and coordinates project work plans and schedules.

  • Reviews financial model inputs and updates for reasonableness, consistency, and accuracy.

  • Communicates findings and assists in the preparation of presentations.

  1. Business planning process MD Anderson
  • Assists with the financial modeling of MD Anderson business plans.

  • Attends and be an active listener and validate business plan assumptions.

  • Assists in the completion and review of business plan documents.

  1. Financial Projects and Report
  • Prepares detailed month-to-date and year-to-date financial reports for all department accounts. Reports include operations summary, fund balances, and variance explanations.

  • Prepares a year-end forecast to identify potential budget short falls and overages.

  • Provides PRS expenditure and reconciliation reports to faculty.

  • Prepares, submits, tracks, and interacts with accounting on departmental third-party consulting invoices based on completed contracts.

  1. Reconciliations
  • Performs monthly reconciliation of account activity for departments to ensure the validity of financial transactions, noting and correcting identified discrepancies/errors for SODF and Attestation reports.

  • Ensures accurate reconciliation procedures and follows internal control policies.

  1. Annual Budget
  • Prepares reports to forecast current year operations for developing the next fiscal year budget.

  • Inputs annual Budget into the FP&A system and verifies accuracy in budget reports.

  1. Administrative
  • Serves as a financial resource for the Cancer Network departments.
  1. Special Projects
  • Assists with any on-going and special projects in support of the objectives of the department and division.

  • Provides support and back up for other analysts in Financial Analytics and Treasury.

  1. Other Duties As Assigned

Required Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related business specialty.

Required Experience:

Two years business experience to include project management, data analysis or accounting.

Preferred Experience:

Financial modeling, economic analysis, business planning, financial reporting, financial forecasting, budgets.

Work Location:

This position is remote, however initial training is onsite. Searching for local Houston, Texas candidates.
