MD Anderson Cancer Center Fire Sprinkler Technician in Houston, Texas
The primary purpose of the Fire Sprinkler Technician position is to provide journey level work associated with hydraulic fire protection systems, and components.
Performs highly skilled journey level work in the designing, installation, maintenance, and operation of hydraulic fire protection equipment, systems, and components.
Performs both routine and preventive maintenance on those systems to include fire sprinkler wet systems, fire sprinkler dry systems, fire sprinkler pre action systems, fire pumps, pressure reducing valves and fire alarm systems.
Performs code mandated commissioning and recurring maintenance testing of fire and life safety systems.
Serves on-call team and on-call back up for fire alarm and automatic sprinkler issues. Will be available to return to duty outside their regularly scheduled work hours, due to sudden demands on staffing or unexpected increases in activity, including emergencies.
Assist with all Fire and Life Safety team duties including but not limited to fire drills, alarm test, and damper testing.
Documenting PM, routes and tickets by use of organization CMMS system.
Other duties as assigned.
The employee may be expected to be part of an on-call group and when assigned this responsibility will be compensated for that time. When on-call , the employee must be available and be able to respond in accordance to policy. Periods of alert when Emergency Conditions may be expected are not considered on-call.
High school diploma or equivalent. Five years journeyman level experience in the mechanical trade, to include three years experience with fire alarm or sprinkler systems. Class A, B or C valid Texas driver's license depending on the type and weight of vehicle to be operated and number of passengers to be carried and eligible to drive State and institutional vehicles.
