MD Anderson Cancer Center Flow Cytometry Laboratory Coordinator - Immunology in Houston, Texas

The Immunology department at MD Anderson Cancer Center seeks to determine the fundamental cellular and molecular mechanisms of a wide range of processes by which the body recognizes and eliminates pathogens and use these findings to unleash the patient's own immune system against previously treatment-resistant cancers. Treating the immune system rather than the cancer itself, the therapeutics developed are applicable to many cancers.

KEY FUNCTIONS

Flow Cytometry

  • Manages flow-related inquiries and supervises flow-related assays using both spectral flow cytometer (Aurora) and conventional flow cytometers, and optional mass cytometer (CyTOF).

  • Develops new flow and optional mass cytometry panels (up to 40 colors).

  • Experience with cytometry and graphing software/scripts (e.g., FlowJo and Prism).

  • Responsible for troubleshooting and assisting with experimental designs and protocols.

  • Responsible for implementing quality control, evaluating protocols, and maintaining all flow cytometers and sorters.

Research

  • Stays abreast with the latest technology available in both flow and mass cytometry.

  • Presents and understands flow data at internal meetings.

  • Familiar with evidence-based literature search.

Training

  • Provides training on operation of flow cytometers, as well as data analysis.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

Required: Bachelor's degree.

Experience

Required: Four years of flow cytometry experience.
