Partnered with Anesthesiology and Critical Care, the Division of Nursing and the Division of Surgery, this multidisciplinary team performs more than 15,000 surgical cases each year in more than 30 operating rooms spanning the Main Building and Mays Clinic.
The ideal candidate will have a degree with f ive years hospital-based sterile processing and teaching experience.
Minimum: $50,800 – Midpoint: $63,500 – Maximum: $76,200
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Responsible for implementation of new employee departmental orientation; responsible for ongoing staff competencies validations; schedules staff educational in-services; develop and maintain departmental procedures and guidelines; maintains departmental education records in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Provides quality assurance monitoring program; performs audits of processes and maintains records. Stays abreast of regulations, standards and guidelines consistent with AORN, AAMI, The Joint Commission, CMS, CDC, OSHA, and FDA requirements as well as the hospital's policies and procedures. Represents Sterile Processing through consultation on interdepartmental and interdisciplinary committees and task forces.
Sterilization and Instrumentation Resource
As needed performs duties independently, works proficiently without supervision in all aspects of sterile processing to include the decontamination, preparation packaging sterilization sterile storage and high level disinfection while adhering to policies and procedures. Operates and trouble shoots the equipment specific to Sterile Processing but not limited to steam, eto, low temperature, automatic endoscope reprocessor, cart washer, washer/disinfector, ultrasonic cleaner, heat sealers, storage carousel as well as variety of testing devices. Assist with instrumentation inventory management (repairs, replacements, back up instrumentation). Works with specialty surgical instrumentation.
Participates in staff and self-development meeting/in services training.
Proficiency in utilization of instrumentation tracking system.
Must be customer service oriented and demonstrate customer service.
Participates in at least one process performance initiative.
Participates in at least two approved educational classes/seminar.
Maintains professional competences and certifications.
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in a healthcare discipline.
Preferred Education: Master's Level Degree
Required Experience: Five years hospital-based sterile processing experience.
Preferred Experience: Five years hospital-based sterile processing experience, to include 2 years quality and education training experience.
Certification: One of the following: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management (IAHCSMM).
Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management (IAHCSMM).
Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) by the Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. (CBSPD).
Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management (IAHCSMM).
Certified Healthcare Leadership (CHL) by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management (IAHCSMM).
Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician (CSPDT) by the Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. (CBSPD).
Certified Sterile Processing Management (CSPM) by the Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. (CBSPD).
Certified Surgical Instrument Specialist (CSIS) by the Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. (CBSPD). Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
