MD Anderson Cancer Center Human Factors Innovation Principal in Houston, Texas

The Innovation Human Factors Principal will be a member of a multi-skilled team that helps solve some of the most complex problems in healthcare. The Innovation Human Factors Principal will lead the development of human-technology systems that are of high institutional value. The Innovation Human Factors Principal will work with senior level stakeholders to better understand, and help lead the vision for solving, high priority issues that the institution faces today to better enable MD Anderson to meet its mission. The Innovation Human Factors Principal will be a senior member of the Innovation Center and will be expected to contribute to the future vision of the Innovation Center's strategic plan and will be critical in evangelizing innovation throughout MD Anderson. ​


Lead and create Human-machine hybrid experience model development, design systems and holistic design solutions from early-stage until detailed design of service and system features, user stories and design for communicating visual storytelling, systems and environments development, service blueprints and prototype testing, across service components.


Gather and synthesize qualitative and quantitative experimental design, and data reporting to develop deliverables on large/complex projects. Drive the design of systemic interventions in complex, multi-partner ecosystems through recognizing complex patterns in human-machine hybrid environments. These insights will be used to in designing new experiences, systems and environments connecting people and technology, process flows, prototypes, presentations, and strategies.


Work across every stage of the project lifecycle to ensure that decisions on designing human interaction and emerging technologies within complex environments are empathic to human needs, capabilities, and limitations - both mental and physical - to make things better, and more effective. Balance functional clarity and emotional impact.


Look beyond point solutions and apply design-led thinking to deliver new multi-channel design ecosystems and create the future of healthcare. Lead and create narratives that tell visually engaging communication with the audience and objectives in mind. Eagerly involve stakeholders in the design process.

Education Required: Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Education: Master's degree

Experience Required: Eight years of experience in human-computer interaction, human factors, cognitive or experimental psychology or related field. With preferred degree, six years of experience in one of the above mentioned areas
