MISSION STATEMENT

Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM; Hours may vary depending on departmental needs.
SUMMARY
Provides technical skills and supervision of paramedics.
Assist the Program Manager in human resource activities to include, coaching supervision and evaluation of Paramedic staff.
Assists with implementing department programs, and initiatives.
Assists in the application of new or existing patient care standards, improvements in clinical practice and patient care delivery.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

The Lead Paramedic is accountable and responsible to assist the Program Manager in providing leadership to support the vision of the organization and to transform the program's values, beliefs, and behaviors to meet the demands of the future.
Implements plans for compliance with established budget.
Assists in preparation and delivery of paramedic staffing
Supports an environment where staff practice with autonomy..
Supports change initiatives and ensures staff understand the importance, necessity, effect and process of changes.
Demonstrates and assists the Program Manager in relationship building among staff members that enhances loyalty and commitment to the organization.
Gathers divergent viewpoints and reports information and ideas to the Program Manager.
Promotes an environment that values and respects the diversity of patients and staff.
Structural Empowerment
The Lead Paramedic, in collaboration with the Program Manager, develops, directs, and empowers staff to problem solve to meet organizational goals and achieve desired outcomes.
Assists the Program Manager in human resource activities for all Paramedics including retention, supervision, evaluation, and productivity.
In collaboration with the Program Manager, reviews performance of Paramedic staff using annual evaluations/competencies, rewards and recognition.
Coaches Paramedic staff to accomplish organizational and departmental goals to achieve desired outcomes.
New Knowledge, Innovations, and Improvements
The Lead Paramedic assists the Program Manager by providing leadership, empowering professionals, and exemplary practice. The Lead Paramedic has an ethical and professional responsibility to contribute to patient care, the organization, and the profession in terms of new knowledge, innovations, and improvements.
Assists in the application of new or existing evidence in setting patient care standards, incorporating new knowledge, innovation, and improvements in clinical practice, patient care delivery system, and work design
Maintains proficiency in the application of technology in patient care delivery, and patient care processes
Empirical Outcomes
The Lead Paramedic collaborates with the Program Manager in disseminating information to Paramedic staff about empirical outcomes, including the impact of quality improvement initiatives and institutional best practices on the patient population, as reflected in institutional metrics.
Engages in initiating, monitoring, managing, and improving Paramedic staff performance and processes based on outcome data
Maintains awareness of trends in Code Blue data and implements action plans to improve and sustain outcomes by hardwiring practices
Mentors team members in participating and completing performance improvement projects
Implements best practices with Paramedic staff
Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
Education : Successful completion of a Texas Department of State Human Services (DSHS) approved EMT-Paramedic training course or Bachelor's degree.
Experience : Four years of experience as a Paramedic.
All of the following certifications are required:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
Texas Paramedic License issued by the Texas Department of State of Health Services
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association.
