MD Anderson Cancer Center Leave Representative in Houston, Texas
The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.
The primary purpose of the Leave Representative position is to administer leave plans and programs for all eligible employee groups. The Leave Representative position is responsible for determining federal and state protected leave eligibility and managing leave cases as established by institutional policy.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Leave Approval and Recordkeeping Take incoming calls and/or visits from employees requesting FML, Parental, Military, RPL and/or HSP leave. Verify eligibility and enter decision in leave record system. Send appropriate request for notifications to HR Assistants and tracks receipt of responses. Make determination of leave status from responses. Maintain confidential HIPPA protected information appropriately.
Leave Counseling Assists employees and management with FML, Parental, Military and RPL policies, processes and procedures. Calculates and corrects timekeeping records and acts as the liaison with payroll to correct pay records based on leave. May request supervisory assistance in follow-up counseling and leave case review as needed. Discuss and counsel employees regarding pay options under RPL program.
Compliance and Standards Ensures compliance with federal, state & UT regulations relating to counseling management and timekeeping on leave recordkeeping and programs. Meets and/or exceeds all department standards on customer service, telephone etiquette, maintenance of documentation and confidentiality of employee information.
Centralized Return from Leave Ensure timely processing of returns from leave. Coordinate any additional job protection for returns. E.g. ADAAA due to a request for accommodation. Liaise with Payroll Services to prevent pay issues or provide necessary updates to correct pay issues. Contact employees and departments as necessary to verify returns. Code employee's timecard in conjunction with PTO Program Guidelines to ensure compatibility with pay end date calculation.

Education
Required: Bachelor's degree.
Experience
Required: Two years experience in office administration, business or human resources. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
Preferred: Previous experience working with FMLA
