MD Anderson Cancer Center Librarian - Research Medical Library in Houston, Texas
The Library's mission is to provide knowledge-based information resources and specialized services to the faculty, staff and students of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and to further the institution's integrated programs in patient care, research, education and prevention. A landmark facility at the top of the T. Boone Pickens Academic Tower, the Research Medical Library is central to the research, education, and publishing activities that help make MD Anderson the world-leading comprehensive cancer center for which it is known.
Library staff members are active partners in assisting thousands of faculty members, students, residents and fellows as they conduct research, pursue answers and collaborate in Making Cancer History.
* Performs interlibrary loan activities including borrowing, lending, and delivery of materials from reciprocal borrowers. Provides consultations on copyright compliance and adheres to interlibrary loan codes, standards, and policies. Notifies patrons regarding availability and borrowing time for items. Actively promotes services and provides instruction to staff and patrons on interlibrary loan. Monitors emerging scholarly communication trends that may affect interlibrary loan services.
Software Updates and Metrics:
* Implements document delivery and interlibrary loan software updates. Monitors workflows and implements process improvements. Prepares accurate statistics and reports in a timely manner. Evaluates and recommends new technology to improve efficiency, timeliness, and cost.
* Staff the information desk and provides circulation and mid-level reference assistance for clients who seek clinical, medical, or scientific knowledge.
Other duties as assigned.
Required: Master's degree in Library Information Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association.
Preferred: Experience working in a Library.
