MD Anderson Cancer Center Maintenance Technician - Night Shift - Fac Mgt-PC&PF-Property Mgt in Houston, Texas

Work Schedule: Saturday - Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday 7pm-7:30am, Monday and Tuesday 11pm-7:30am.

The primary purpose of a Maintenance Technician is to provide demonstrated sub journeyman-level work in a designated craft(s). Impacts routine maintenance and repairs of all mechanical equipment, systems, buildings and grounds.

Under direct supervision performs routine and preventative maintenance on various equipment, buildings and utility systems using one or more craft trade skills. Maintains records of materials, jobs, and other pertinent information.

  1. Applies general craft knowledge and skills by following work instructions to:

a. Install and/or repair ceiling grids & tiles complete with air supply and exhaust diffusers.

b. Install and/or repair vinyl, carpeted floors, & cove base.

c. HVAC initial response for hot/cold calls, odors, exhaust issues, repair or replace equipment, etc.

d. Plumbing initial response to unclog water closets, sinks, shut off fixture stops, use sewer machines on floor drains, replace faucets, valves and fixtures, etc.

e. Electrical tasks such as clean/replace light diffusers, replace lamps and ballasts, etc.

f. Repair and maintain utility systems equipment, such as, pumps, valves, steam systems, vacuum pumps, compressors, and water softeners.

g. Assist with and perform preventive maintenance as required.

h. Assist with patching and painting as required.

i. Perform installations and repairs on doors, door closers, locks, hinges, framework, alignment, and strike plates. Adjust / replace door closers.

j. All completed work meets professional standards of cleanliness, maintenance and safety in accordance with work instructions

k. May order materials and maintain inventory.

  1. Notify management of all recognized equipment repairs.

  2. Clean and maintain equipment and work areas.

  3. Communicate with team members to identify needs for improvement.

  4. Manage all assigned work orders to be completed as per schedules.

  5. Other duties as assigned

Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Two years experience in one or more crafts (i.e. - plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, instrumentation).

Preferred: Class A, B or C valid Texas driver's license depending on the type and weight of vehicle to be operated and number of passengers to be carried and eligible to drive State and institutional vehicles.

Salary Range: $32,000 - $40,000 - $48,000
