The Medical Assistant in the GU Cancer Center at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides patient care assistance to ambulatory care patients and supports daily operations of the center.

MD Anderson's Genitourinary Cancer Center is one of the most active programs in the country for treating cancers of the urinary tract and male reproductive system. We take a team approach to treating genitourinary cancers, and the specialized medical oncologists, surgeons and radiation oncologists collaborate closely to offer customized treatments to our patients.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience clinical experience, rooming patients and taking vitals.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assists with routine patient care services including procedures.

  2. Monitors and maintains all supplies throughout the center and ensures expired and open/updated supplies are removed daily.

  3. Use effective customer service skills to meet the needs of patient family and staff.

Salary Range: $28,800 - $36,000 - $43,200

EDUCATION:

Required: High school diploma/equivalent or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: No experience required.

Preferred: Must have at least one year of medical assistant experience, including rooming patients and taking vitals.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

Required: Certified or eligible to be certified by one of the following based on Medical Assistant experience or preferred education:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)

  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Society of Medical Technologists (AMT)

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)

  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

WORKING CONDITIONS:
