The Leukemia Center at MD Anderson is one of the world’s most-recognized treatment centers for leukemia and blood disorders. Our active research program allows us to offer more than 100 clinical trials of the newest targeted therapies, vaccines, immunotherapies and “mini” stem cell transplants, many only available at MD Anderson.

The Leukemia Center has internationally-known doctors who have dedicated their careers to advancing global knowledge about staging and treating rare myeloproliferative disorders and myelodysplastic syndromes.

The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma/equivalent or a graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program preferably with one year of related experience.

Salary Range: Min- $27,800 Mid- $36,000 Max- $43,200

Essential Job Functions-

Patient Care Rooms- Patients in preparation for treatment/service which includes taking history and documenting vital signs, allergy, and fall assessment information into Clinic Station along with any lab work ordered that has been completed; wrist banding.

Room Maintenance- Cleans, stores, prepares and coordinates maintenance of medical equipment. Prepares/stocks rooms and maintains inventories of medical supplies plus linens.

Scheduling- Processes requests and coordinates patient/program scheduling using strong verbal, listening and written communication skills. Accesses participant database to review registration information and completion.

Charge Capture/Reconciliation- Participates in daily charge capture/reconciliation process with roles changing dependent on staffing ratios.

Education

Required: High school diploma/equivalent or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.

Preferred: Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.

Experience

Required: None.

Preferred: Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.

Licensure/Certification

Required: Certified or eligible to be certified by one of the following based on Medical Assistant experience or preferred education: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Society of Medical Technologists (AMT) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

Preferred: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
