MD Anderson Cancer Center Medical Assistant- Palliative Care Medicine in Houston, Texas

The ideal candidate must be able to work 10 hours per day/4 days per week, 6:30am-5:30pm with rotating weekends.

Salary Range: Min- $28,800 Mid- $36,000 Max- $43,200

Job Duties and Responsibilities-

Consult Pager

Respond to consult pager(s) in a timely and courteous manner. Collect information and enter into database(s) accurately. Disseminate information to appropriate users in a timely and courteous manner. Provide a high level of customer satisfaction to both referring departments and PRIM Staff.

Database Management

Maintains Access database report. This patient report is used daily for clinical team assignments. This report includes the primary consultation date, patient's demographics, symptoms, cancer diagnosis, insurance billing information, referring physician, and mobile team assignment group. Twice a day, check for discharges, deaths, and patient room changes via OneConnect ensuring accurate information is given to the clinical team.

Mobile Team Reports

Distribute updated reports via email twice a day to appropriate mobile team members and other related staff such as: Clinical Business Specialist, Financial Analyst, Psychologist, and Chaplin. Attend the mobile team daily meeting regarding patient issues, plan of care, and create a matrix for new consult assignments. Create an end of day report and a sign-out report updating the Palliative Care clinical team regarding patient discharges, deaths, and patient room changes.

Education

Required: High school diploma/equivalent or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.

Preferred: Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.

Experience

Required: None.

Preferred: Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.

Licensure/Certification

Required: Certified or eligible to be certified by one of the following based on Medical Assistant experience or preferred education: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Society of Medical Technologists (AMT) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

Preferred: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
