MD Anderson Cancer Center Medical Assistant- Pheresis Clinic- Varied Shift: Mon-Fri 7:30am-6:00pm in Houston, Texas

The ideal candidate will have inventory and stocking experience for exam rooms and willing to work a varied shift Monday-Friday anytime between the hours of 7:30am-6:00pm.

Salary Range: Min- $28,800 Mid- $36,000 Max- $43,200

The primary purpose of the Medical Assistant position is to act as lead technical assistant in preparing patients for medical visits and procedures. The Medical Assistantimpacts patient care to patients in the Center under the supervision of the clinical staff.

Essential Job Functions:

Assists with patient examinations, treatments and procedures. Prepares / stocks rooms and escorts patients to rooms. Obtains vital signs and prepares patients for physician's care. Documents in the medical record patient care entries and completed lab work. Reviews and sorts incoming lab results and forwards reports for review. Collects laboratory specimens and performs waived laboratory testing (such as finger stick glucose and EKG tests). Provides transportation of patients for discharge or transfer to other areas in the hospital. Must position, lift and move patients as needed. Cleans, stores, prepares and coordinates maintenance of medical equipment. Maintains inventories of laboratory and medical supplies. Processes all required paperwork. Instructs patients as to test preparations according to planned procedure.

Education

Required: High school diploma/equivalent or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.

Preferred: Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.

Experience

Required: None.

Preferred: Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.

Licensure/Certification

Required: Certified or eligible to be certified by one of the following based on Medical Assistant experience or preferred education: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Society of Medical Technologists (AMT) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).

Preferred: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
