MD Anderson Cancer Center Nurse Manager - Myeloma/Lymphoma - Evening/Nights in Houston, Texas

The Nurse Manager manages nursing administration in identification of purpose and goals of nursing service and nursing education.

Ideal candidate will have Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and five years of professional nursing experience, to include one year of supervisory experience in direct patient care activities. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates nursing care. This role requires flexibility, internal motivation, emotional control, and conflict-resolution capabilities. Will be responsible for time keeping and unit scheduling. Must be comfortable with disiplinary coaching. Role is clinical and administrative.

  • Coordinates staffing. Manages budget preparation toward provision of adequate personnel, supplies and equipment.

  • Responsible for nursing care in assigned area.

  • Counsels and evaluates nursing personnel for optimum performance.

  • Develops and participates in orientation and in-service education programs for areas of specialization.

  • Collaborates with faculty and assists respective area.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • REQUIREMENTS

  • Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

  • Education Preferred: Master's Degree in Nursing or related field.

  • Experience Required: Five years of professional nursing experience, to include one year of supervisory experience in direct patient care activities. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.

  • Experience Preferred: Hematology background; bedside Clinical and leadership expereince (Charge Nurse experience is also helpful)

  • Licensure/Certification Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing License (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

  • Licensure/Certification Preferred: Certification in oncology or specialty practice area. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.

  • Other Required Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
