P12A, Hospital Internal Medicine is a 30-bed inpatient unit providing care to adult medical oncology inpatients with a diagnosis of slid tumor malignancies; primary services include genitourinary, breast and internal medicine.
Function Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates individualized nursing care; nursing care management and nursing personnel management for a designated area.
Scope Impacts patient care and daily operations assigned patient care areas.
Essential Job Functions:
Manages nursing administration in identification of purpose and goals of nursing service and nursing education. Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates nursing care. Coordinates staffing. Manages budget preparation toward provision of adequate personnel, supplies and equipment. Responsible for nursing care in assigned area. Counsels and evaluates nursing personnel for optimum performance. Develops and participates in orientation and in-service education programs for areas of specialization. Collaborates with faculty and assists respective area.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
EXPERIENCE: Five years of professional nursing experience, to include one year of supervisory experience in direct patient care activities. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
LICENSURE: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Preferred: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
