The Department of Investigational Pharmacy Services (IPS) is responsible for the administrative management of all investigational drugs used at MD Anderson, including drug acquisition, inventory control and investigational drug accountability. An equally important function is the provision of drug information of these agents and protocols for health care professionals both within and outside the institution. The IPS serves as the liaison between researchers and the Division of Pharmacy in addition to ensuring pharmacy compliance with protocol requirements.

The primary purpose of the Staff Pharmacist position in Investigational Pharmacy Services is to provide assistance in the coordination and maintenance in the Pharmacy efforts of delivering investigational medications to the patient. Will also serve as the liaison between the Study team, the Sponsor, the Operational (Dispensing) Pharmacies, and participation performance improvement initiatives.

The hours for this position are: 9:30AM - 6:00PM

Key Functions:

  1. Serves as the Liaison between the Study Team, Protocol Sponsor, and the Operational (Dispensing) Pharmacy and coordinates the drug therapy from a Pharmacy standpoint.

  2. Leads and actively participates in Investigational Pharmacy Service initiatives involving: education, clinical research, professional development, and performance improvement.

  3. Effectively provides guidance and mentorship to the Specialty Technicians and the designated teams.

Salary Range: $94,000 - $123,600 - $154,500


Required: Bachelor's of Science degree in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.


Required: No experience required.

Preferred: Investigational drug or research experience. Completion of PGY1 would be a plus.


Required: Eligible to receive a license to practice pharmacy in the State of Texas by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
