MD Anderson Cancer Center Principal Business Systems Analyst - Protocol Review & Reporting in Houston, Texas

The Principal Business Systems Analyst responsibilities include formulating and defining data solution infrastructure and objectives based on both clinical research trial management needs and the applicable informatics research data analysis and interpretation; collecting and analyzing requirements of study data analysis requirements including data integration; data mining and meaningful reporting; and etc.

The candidate possesses rich knowledge and experience in both multi-center clinical research trial data management and computer application platform.Provides leadership implementation in the design, implementation, developing, troubleshooting and/or support of multi-center applications, data analysis and reports.

The salary range is min $ 94,800 mid $ 118,500 max $ 142,200.


  • Provides leadership in the effort of establishing the multi-center trial data management platform and infrastructure.

  • Studies and analyzes the trial workflow, identifies and transforms the workflow processes from the functional requirements into the application functions and features.

  • Plays the key role of designing and implementing data technology on the Application Integration Management (AIM) infrastructure.

  • Identifies requirements and user needs in developing data integration projects.

  • Evaluates and assures the modifications and enhancement of existing and future components of data queries, procedures, participates in studies of trial project data analysis and development.

  • Develops reusable data components for dashboard, risk based monitoring and other metrics.

  • Participates activities of user acceptance test, designs, recognizes and resolves problems and performs troubleshooting of data defects.

  • Reviews database designs from others to assure broad applicability and effectiveness.

  • Promotes professional growth and development for entire staff through effective leadership, coaching, and training opportunities.


Required: Bachelor's degree.

Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, Healthcare Administration or related field


Required: Seven years of progressive software systems implementation and support, business systems process analysis and design, Epic software, to include two years lead/supervisory experience. May substitute require education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis or completed years of college on a one to one basis.

Preferred: Strong analytical and programming skills in working with across

departments' effort of providing complete solutions on clinical and research

trial management platform. Good experience in integration environment.

Strong logic thinking and mathematic background are the plus.

PL/QL script in both MS SQL Server and Oracle database; SSIS

packaging, Web server configuration, SharePoint integration.
