Ideal candidate will have experience in internal communications, healthcare and

public relations.

The Program Manager, Communications - Internal, is responsible for providing services that include consulting and developing strategies, plans and products to advance communication of the goals and activities of those involved in patient care and clinical operations. Under the direction of the Associate Director, Internal Communications, and in partnership with clinical and operational leadership, the position incorporates a high level of creativity, respect for confidentiality, independent planning and decision-making, and effective problem-solving skills.

Communications Program Strategies and Consulting Successfully develops, manages, consults on and measures internal communications projects in partnership with the Associate Director, Internal Communications, with a particular focus on the strategies and goals of clinical care and operations. Consults, develops, implements, manages and measures communications strategies, plans and products to advance communication of the goals and activities in these areas for the institution. Routinely attends face-to-face meetings with client leadership, attends key customer meetings in multiple locations, and is available for consultation, as needed. Consistently tracks and analyzes success of programs, projects and initiatives, provides status reports and identifies as well as solves potential problems. The role includes collaboration with client groups, Institutional Advancement team members, including with designers/printers and videographers, to create print, online and broadcast materials.

Enhance Client Leadership Visibility Implement, manage or maintain internal communications programs for key leadership in Clinical Operations and Nursing area, as well as other areas within the related functional areas, that promote, or invite participation of leadership, for employees in targeted areas, as well as for all employee audiences. These may include deliverables in print, online and broadcast, face-to-face programs such as OFFLINE sessions and Road Shows, town hall meetings and forums. Routine collaboration with Public Relations, Integrated Media and other Institutional Advancement team members to share themes and messages with our external audiences, as appropriate.

Writing and Editing Clear, consistent writing and editing in all work product. Command and practice of Associated Press Style and MD Anderson style. Regular contributions to our institutional publications – particularly Messenger, Employee Notes, etc. – and programs and services through articles, memos, presentations, videos, scripts, slides, fliers or other materials.

Required: Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field. Six years of experience public relations, communications, writing/editing or related field. With preferred degree, four years of required experience.

Preferred Education: Master's Level Degree.Preferred Certification: Master's degree with major in English, Journalism, Public Relations or Communications.Preferred Experience: Experience in internal communications and health care communications.

Communications department must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
