Title: Program Manager, Behavioral Science
The mission of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.
The Program Manager is responsible for managing the Tobacco Outreach Education Program (TOEP) and contributes to the management of the Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP) project. Provides leadership in the development of new initiatives and products and the dissemination of existing tobacco cessation and prevention program activities for the Youth and Family Cancer Prevention Program (YFCPP). Develops and implements marketing and communication strategies to successfully reach local, national and international audiences. Provides leadership in the development of community partnerships and training of healthcare professionals and others in methods of encouraging a tobacco-free lifestyle for adolescents. Proposes and develops partnerships and communication materials to extend the reach of YFCPP, including TOEP, ASPIRE, Continuing Medical Education (CME) program, and new tobacco cessation/prevention programs (DSRIP) by planning, designing and implementing strategic collaborative campaigns targeting the medical, education and community audiences, in particular.
Manages program budgets, contracts and resources; recommends relevant expenditures to achieve project objectives. Ensures prompt, thorough reporting of all required project information to relevant requestors.
Initiates and cultivates relationship development with potential community partners and plans special events for community participants. Implements the marketing plan to engage community partners. Manages implementation of dissemination to community sites. Serves as liaison with local, state and national entities, as well as institutional representatives in other departments.
Supervision of staff
Supervises project's Program Coordinators, delegates appropriate tasks and prepares annual performance evaluations for their direct reports. Trains personnel on operation, implementation and report generation associated with ASPIRE and other YFCPP programs.
Delivery of Presentations
Develops and delivers presentations for a variety of professional audiences. Delivers presentations to target audiences including community partners, school officials, project team members and senior management.
Develops content for and maintains the YFCPP, TOEP and ASPIRE websites. Develops and implements marketing strategies for TOEP and oversees development and implementation of marketing strategies for DSRIP.
Participates in activities related to operationalization of the evidence-based tobacco intervention programs for broader dissemination among various groups of the population and health care professionals. Other duties as required by project needs.
Education Required: Bachelor's degree.
Experience Required: Five years of related program management experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience or completed years of college on a one to one basis. With preferred degree, three years of required experience.
