MD Anderson Cancer Center Program Manager, Digital UX/UI Design in Houston, Texas
Reporting to the director, Creative Communications, the program manager plans, develops (user interface) and
oversees visual design for digital communications including desktop and mobile web, intranet and email
templates, and social media posts, for a variety of MD Anderson audiences. The program manager provides
digital creative direction for colleagues and may oversee work from collaborators, direct reports or external
vendors. The program manager conducts research, tests, designs, monitors progress and implements changes
based on business or customer needs.
The program manager, under the director of Creative Communications, oversees visual design development of
digital (desktop and mobile) solutions that maintain MD Anderson's brand and visual identity. The position
supports a wide range of organizational projects and constituents, and collaborates closely with colleagues in
Strategic Communications, Marketing and Information Services. The program manager must possess a strong
knowledge of usability principles and techniques as well as best practices for digital (web, mobile) design.
Digital and User Interface Design:
Creates innovative and engaging visual design solutions for a wide variety of digital communication platforms, including desktop and mobile websites, intranet sites, email templates, social media posts and presentations.
Leads design for new digital experiences as well as improvement of existing experiences.
Develops and implements strategies for future iterations.
Creates interactive design solutions to address business needs and meet end user needs.
Delivers work product that strictly adheres to organizational brand standards and accessibility guidelines, while remaining user friendly and aesthetically engaging.
Throughout projects, works alongside Strategic Communications and Marketing colleagues as well as Information Services project managers and developers.
Presents design work to customers including senior leaders for review and feedback.
Consistently tracks success of work product, projects and initiatives, and identifies opportunities for improvement and/or solves potential problems.
Advises and educates colleagues and customers on usability principles and techniques, best practices for digital (web, mobile) design and web content accessibility guidelines.
Contributes to the shared knowledge of the team(s) working on digital communication platforms and initiatives.
Serves as a knowledgeable brand steward and ensures all projects reflect the brand look and feel.
Provides support and information to internal and external customers related to digital brand inquiries and requests.
Routinely attends key customer meetings and is available for consultation, as needed.
Provides digital design direction to colleagues and collaborators.
Directs work of communication designers, external service providers and contracted personnel.
Other duties as assigned:
- As needs arise, creates and designs general, non-medical/scientific/technical art, graphics institutional programs and publications.
Required: Bachelor's degree.
Required: Five years of graphic design experience with two years of digital and user interface design experience.
May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
