The primary purpose of the Program Manager, PLM_IPCT position is to provide responsible supervision, administrative leadership, strategic planning and technical management of test development and clinical trial
programs in laboratory sections across the division. Manages, plans, and develops budgets and performs other fiscal duties of a laboratory facility.
KEY FUNCTIONS-Manage multiple complex developmental test projects involving multiple platforms and technologies for personalized medicine and clinical trials.
-Consults, modifies and/or develops new techniques required by various sections/departments involved in clinical test development activities.
-Utilizes strong communication skills, capable of communication with across all levels of personnel and across sections, departments and divisions
-Utilizes strong administrative skills in personnel and budget management
-Provides project reports with organized and relevant data as observed by faculty and administration personnel.
-Responds promptly and appropriately to internal and external customer service issues and concerns as expressed by faculty and administration.
-Reviews and makes recommendations for purchasing replacement or new equipment and/or supplies and reagents based on anticipated workload.
-Introduces and develops together with the appropriate director specific computer programs necessary for the evaluation of results and archiving of data and results
-Assures timeliness of methods being developed
-Adheres to all CLIA requirements for clinical laboratory test development
-Oversee Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs for new methodology.
-Assembling data for poster and oral presentations
-Observes appropriate safety measures in all work practices consistent with all health safety and infection control requirements
-Participates in interviews and selection of new employees.
-Counsels, coaches and evaluates staff.
-Gives recommendations for merit increases.
-Determines staffing needs and schedules personnel to provide adequate coverage.
-Assists with preparations of grant applications.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Biological Science, Management or related field
Required: Five years of project or program experience to include design, development, oversight and
analysis in a supervisory/ management capacity in a large institution. May substitute required
education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis
Preferred: The above with some teaching and clinical laboratory experience.
Bachelor's degree. Five years of related program management experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience or completed years of college on a one to one basis. With preferred degree, three years of required experience.
