MD Anderson Cancer Center Program Manager - The Academic Cancer Data Science Collaborative Ecosystem in Houston, Texas
To accelerate discovery through rapidly developing data science methods, MD Anderson has built an inter-institutional data collaboration resource to enable academic data collaborations over multi-dimensional data derived from clinical, research, and operations sources from within institutional Data Management Systems (DMS). The Academic Cancer Data Science Collaborative Ecosystem (A-CADENCE) will (1) provide operational support for coordination of research collaborations over institutionally-controlled high-quality data through a cloud-based infrastructure, (2) propagate and leverage the Team Data Science principles to facilitate shared pursuits to tackle cancer questions and challenges through collaborative investments around data analytics paired with high-quality data generation and flow among like-minded institutions, (3) manage contracts/IRB protocols and promote the connectivity to the participating institutions through a cloud-based framework, and (4) support access to a common environment for data findability, harmonization, analytics and dashboard reporting for participants.
The A-CADENCE Program Manager will work closely with the Institutional legal and compliance teams to implement data collaboration agreements and address the IRB and data use contract requirements that bridge institutions. The Program Manager will support the effort to establish data quality stewards that work within and across the institutions to ensure consistent data quality and accurate ontological mappings in conjunction with subject management experts.
This individual will be responsible for managing the overall activities and coordination of the A-CADENCE. This includes providing operational management and coordination of the research and development activities for the A-CADENCE. In addition, this individual will be responsible for the day-to-day administrative management of research activities, budget oversight as well as longer term program development and planning, tracking and reporting of milestones and outcomes of the program, and management of finances. The individual will coordinate and engage in discussions with senior leaders across the A-CADENCE and within MD Anderson to help drive the A-CADENCE's strategic planning and day-to-day activities.
Coordinate and support communication and alignment across A-CADENCE leaders through the shaping of the strategic plan and providing consistent updates on the execution metrics
Assist in execution of the A-CADENCE strategic plan, including development of the organizational framework and defining the measurable goals with KPIs and timelines to deliver on A-CADENCE objectives
Track and report progress on KPIs to the anticipated timelines to A-CADENCE leaders and collaborative members and sponsors, as needed
Contact point; develop documents; organize projects; follow up on action items; develop and manage budget; coordinate with CTDO operations and budget on managing finances; prepares progress reports; slides for reporting
Coordinate with project PIs, data stewards and the IS teams to help address process and technology needs to ensure execution of projects within A-CADENCE
Coordinate strategic discussions and activities between the A-CADENCE, internal stakeholders and potential/existing industry collaborators.
Assist in presentation content and coordinate communications and interactions with stakeholders (e.g. orientation of objectives, progress updates):

Provide administrative support in coordination with the grants team, OSP and A-CADENCE leaders in the preparation of grant submissions, award set up and grant reports
Support the pipeline management of potential A-CADENCE technologies from external (industry or academic) collaborators or internal stakeholders

Required Education: Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Education: Master's Degree, PhD
Required Experience:
Five years related experience to include three years program management experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. With preferred degree, three years of required experience.
Preferred Experience:
Five years project/program management experience
Three years of experience in an academic and/or academic healthcare setting.
Experience using formal project management methodologies, techniques and tools.
Experience in external collaborations or partnership management.
Experience securing grants from State and Federal funding sources.
