The Quality Assurance Specialist serves as a regulatory resource for faculty and staff. Coordinates regulatory inspections and assure compliance with requirements. Reviews new and/or proposed regulatory requirements; submits comments on proposed standards and coordinate change in processes, procedures, and/or policies to assure compliance. Assures compliance with all governmental laws, statues, and regulations. Coordinates audits from interdepartmental and external institution and/or agency. Serves as Quality Assurance Specialist for the department during inspections, mock inspections, and visits by regulatory agencies.
SOP and Policy Review
Review departmental SOP's and/or policies for regulatory compliance, legal compliance, and quality control. Review and facilitate error/ variance /accidents – corrective action/follow-up and investigate non-planned deviation from procedures and/or protocols. Follow engraftment and/or quality indicator of transfused cells and investigate failure to meet standards. Investigate and review Sentinel Events. Develops improvement plan for process failure and complete follow-up.
Resource Serve as a regulatory resource for faculty and staff. Coordinate regulatory inspections and assure compliance with requirements. Review new and/or proposed regulatory requirements; submit comments on proposed standards and coordinate change in processes, procedures, and/or policies to assure compliance. Assure compliance with all governmental laws, statues, and regulations. Coordinate audits from interdepartmental and external institution and/or agency. Serve as Quality Assurance Specialist for the department during inspections, mock inspections, and visits by regulatory agencies.
Develop, maintain, and facilitate the BMT Quality Improvement Program. Facilitate and co-chair the BMT Departmental meetings. Document and distribute meeting minutes and reports. Maintain Quality Improvement records for regulatory compliance. Facilitate BMT Departmental meetings, projects, and process improvements. Assist Specialty Teams on Quality Improvement projects and problem resolutions. Review Specialty Team data and reports. Maintain and update Quality Improvement Program policy.
Other duties as assigned
Required: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Nursing or a related healthcare field.
Preferred: Master's degree in a related scientific field.
Required: Three years of professional experience in a healthcare or academic setting with one year experience with research protocols, regulatory compliance or education. May substitute required education with additional years of equivalent experience or applicable degree on a one to one basis.
Preferred: Five years background in QC, QA, QI and must be familiar with current Blood and Marrow Transplantation regulations.
Preferred: Certified Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, or Certified Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) by the National Certifying Agency.
