MD Anderson Cancer Center Research Assistant I - Radiation Oncology - Research in Houston, Texas

The Research Assistant I role is dedicated to conducting research projects focused on exploring the imaging correlates of toxicity among head and neck cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. This position entails active collaboration with Principal Investigators, postdoctoral researchers, students, and other research assistants. Additionally, the role encompasses the organization, coordination, and active participation in scientific research projects. Responsibilities include managing laboratory equipment, enforcing safety protocols, and ensuring the smooth operation of research activities. The Research Assistant I will also present research findings to professional audiences and contribute to the preparation of scientific publications.
KEY FUNCTIONS/JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
• Efficiently retrieve planning CTs and radiation therapy doses for patient treatment planning.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of clinical and imaging data for enrolled patients.
• Support in the processes of image registration, segmentation of organs at risk, data analysis, interpretation, and the preparation of manuscripts.
• Collaborate closely with the Principal Investigator, co-investigators, and relevant departments to ensure all clinical research activities are executed in alignment with established policies and procedures.
• Aid the Principal Investigator in managing research studies, addressing protocol requirements, and facilitating the execution of the research plan.
• Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of all collected data through rigorous quality assurance practices in data acquisition and management.
• Organize and support monitoring and auditing visits, acting as a liaison to streamline these processes.
• Collaborate with the research team to address audit findings effectively and implement recommended actions for improvement.
Education
Required: Bachelor's degree, major course work in one of the basic sciences.
