MD Anderson Cancer Center Research Assistant I- Tissue Bank in Houston, Texas
SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Research Assistant I is to perform technical laboratory duties in accordance with the Melanoma Tissue Bank's standard operating procedures (SOPs) regarding the collection, processing, tracking, and distribution of human tissue. JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Conducts research biospecimen processing Processes blood, tissue, stool and other biospecimens under the supervision of laboratory manager or designated research staff. Utilizes laboratory equipment to carry out sample processing and biospecimen storage
Documentation, inventory and data entry Records and enters data in accordance with standard operating procedures
Biospecimen Kit Preparation, distribution and receipt Prepares biospecimen processing kits according to standard operating procedures, for assigned protocols. Documents kit supply inventory and distribution
Biospecimen pick-up Picks up biospecimens from various core services within MDACC and receives biospecimens from outside sources
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree, major course work in one of the basic sciences.
Required Experience:
No experience is required.
Preferred Experience//Skills:
Prior lab experience, prior experience working as part of a team, customer service skills, able to operate in a dynamic high-throughput environment, great communication skills, reliable.
Work Schedule:
Flexible in work hours (open to working until 6pm).
