MD Anderson Cancer Center Research Assistant II - Pathology Research in Houston, Texas

The primary purpose of the Research Assistant II position entails planning and execution of research projects, technical laboratory duties, and data management within a dynamic translational research environment focused on applied cancer biology research.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Coordinates Lab & Conducts Experiments under supervision Coordinate Lab 1. Performance of a variety of experimental techniques in molecular biology with regular, timely and accurate documentation of results in written form.

  1. Proficient in most current laboratory procedures including: cell/tissue culture methods, vector construction, transfection, immunochemistry, flow cytometry, cell sorting procedures, protein purification, western blotting, gene mapping, promoter analysis, electrophoretic mobility shift assays, PCR-based techniques, etc.

  2. Assisting in ongoing and further collaborative studies with other laboratories, including development of new assays and techniques.

General Laboratory Maintenance & Supplies 1-Monitors and maintains supply inventory so that work flow is not negatively affected; Orders supplies and equipment.

2-Help in maintenance of general lab equipment.

3-Prepare common laboratory stock chemicals;

Lab Safety Assists in maintaining the lab safe following lab safety policies and assists in preparing the lab for inspections

Other duties as assigned

Bachelor's degree with major course works in one of the basic sciences. Two years experience in scientific or experimental research work. No experience required with preferred degree.
