MD Anderson Cancer Center Research Data Coordinator - Health Disparities Research in Houston, Texas

The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support in service of coordinating a community-based program of research focused on reducing tobacco-related disparities. Duties for this position include but are not limited to maintaining weekly agendas and notes; creating and updating standard operating procedures; maintaining project spreadsheets and listservs; compiling project and metrics for reporting; executing project purchasing needs; building databases/tracking spreadsheets for data organization; coordinating registration of project partners for trainings; assisting with QIAB/IRB protocols and modifications; monitoring and organizing project expenses; and submission of academic products and reference management for team.

KEY FUCTIONS

Research/Project Coordination:

  • Participate on multidisciplinary study team to implement community-based dissemination and implementation tobacco control research

  • Coordinate weekly project meetings, communicating with the team for updates to agendas

  • Summarize weekly project meetings, communicating with the team for notes and action items

  • Understand study objectives and coordinate relevant activities to include trainings (e.g., registration, certificate creation) and purchasing

  • Assist in building research databases (e.g., Qualtrics)

  • Prepare and submit progress reports

  • Coordinate compliance issues and oversee research regulatory issues within the institution

  • Update/revise survey instruments and/or data collection tools; Identify and report needed protocol and procedural changes.

Data Coordination:

  • Support evaluation of grant objectives by carefully tracking and maintaining records of recruitment, implementation, and dissemination

Maintain confidential study files and records in an organized and secure manner, including contact information, data, and other relevant materials.

Communication:

  • Consistent, quick, and open communication is key to performing the job duties listed herein

Respectful and clear communication to maintain collegial relationships with the research team (day-to-day grant coordination), departmental administrative staff (for purchasing, vendor set-up, etc.), community partners (for training registration, etc.), and vendors (for printing, etc.)

Other Responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparation and submission of grants, academic works, presentations, and other project-related materials; Assist in resolving data coding discrepancies.

EDUCATION

Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE

Required: Two years of related experience. With preferred degree, no experience required.

Preferred: Experience working in a research.
