MD Anderson Cancer Center Research Scientist - Anesthesiology, Critical Care & Pain - Research Support in Houston, Texas
Research Scientist opportunity in Anesthesiology, Critical Care & Pain - Research Support. The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field and four years of experience in experimental or scientific work. With a PhD, no experience is required. With a medical degree, two years of experience in experimental or scientific work.
Prefer candidates with experience in transgenic mouse models of pulmonary infection and disease.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Research Activities
Independently design, execute, analyze and interpret resources and instrumentation relevant to the assigned projects on mechanisms of neutrophil extracellular trap formation.
Independently proposes and leads innovative solutions to advance research projects.
Work closely with the data science team presenting and interpreting research findings to refine the experimental strategy.
Proactively identify, evaluate and implement novel technologies to drive research discoveries and innovation.
Deploy cutting-edge tools and technologies to investigate signaling mechanisms of neutrophil extracellular trap formation in response to FDA-approved drugs.
Participate in supervision and training of fellows, residents, students and volunteer personnel as needed, to increase the research efficiency.
Participate in maintaining mouse colonies, ordering and procurement of supplies and equipment relevant to the assigned projects.
Play an active role in seeking career and research advise from the PI and other faculty members as appropriate.
Record Keeping, Data Collection, and Presentation
Collect, record, analyze data and interpret, present, and report research findings at internal meetings and external scientific conferences.
Communicates with faculty and staff within and outside the laboratory in scientific discussion, data presentation and literature reviews.
Assist the PI in data analysis, preparation of manuscripts and grant applications.
Research Safety & Compliance
Works on general laboratory routine functions including reagent preparation, equipment maintenance, minor repairs on small equipment, inventory bookkeeping and supply ordering.
Handles, stores, and disposes of chemical hazardous materials and biohazardous materials in specified procedures to meet institutional safety guidelines.
Follow the IACUC procedures that listed on PI's IACUC protocols.
Monitors laboratory equipment operation and implements safety procedures.
EDUCATION
Required: Master's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.
Preferred: None
EXPERIENCE
Required: Four years of experience in experimental or scientific work. No experience with a Ph.D. with a Medical degree, two years of experience in experimental or scientific work.
Preferred: Experience in transgenic mouse models of pulmonary infection and disease
