Recognize, Evaluate, and Mitigate Hazards
Conducts inspections in patient care areas (ambulatory clinics and inpatient units) in accordance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements. Manages the Environment of Care Rounds Program. Set up and manage schedules, maintain AMP tool questionnaire, send reports and ensure follow ups on corrective actions.
Develops detailed metrics on trends from Environment of Care rounds. Develops mitigation strategies for corrective actions for deficiency trends
Participates in the Environment of Care tracer program and other institutional safety programs related to The Joint Commission (TJC) Environment of Care and Life Safety standards and guidelines.
Supports department and the institution during regulatory surveys, by providing necessary documentation and staffing the command center as needed.
Conducts risk assessments, communicates results and provides feedback.
Maintains all necessary regulatory documentation.
Recall Program .
Maintains and manages the RASMAS web-based tool for management of product recalls
Ensures proper response and follows up on open recalls Tracks open recalls to completion
Develops training for responders and users of the RASMAS web-based tool.
Maintains all necessary documentation.
Tracks and responds to recalls received in the Recall Aware mailbox
Compiles weekly FYI report and communicates to key stakeholders. Compiles monthly recalls program report for Institutional Safety Committee
Works closely with stakeholders in Supply Chain, Clinical Engineering, Pharmacy, Periop, Diagnostic Imaging and other departments to ensure proper response to recalls.
Compliance, Program Support and Implementation
Provides support to applicable committees such as Institutional Safety Committee, Patient Safety Committee and Joint Commission Readiness Committee by preparing reports.
Creates and provides training to institutional personnel to support the safety programs of the department and institution.
Develops, reviews and maintains policies, procedures and plan to support The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation requirements and standards.
Completes TJC Focus Standard Assessment (FSA) when required on AMP, a web-based tool.
Reviews TJC Resources information to obtain updates and changes to applicable standards.
Stays abreast of changing Joint Commission and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements. Functions as subject-matter expert of TJC and CMS standards and regulations
Emergency Management Support
Participates in Emergency Planning functions to support the section, the department and the institution.
Participates as a ride out team member as needed
Supports the Incident Command administrative tasks during activation
Provide administrative support for FEMA declared disasters
Becomes familiar with FEMA requirements for declared disasters. Works closely with consultants and other institutional stakeholders to compile FEMA required documentation
Other duties as assigned
1. Will be required to be part of the on-call rotation
2. Will be required to assist with fire drills as needed
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Applied or Basic Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Environmental Science or related field. Class A, B or C valid Texas driver's license depending on the type and weight of vehicle to be operated and number of passengers to be carried and eligible to drive State and institutional vehicles.
